Happy New Year!
Four days after our arrival from a month-long holiday in the Philippines, I still feel sluggish and “in denial” that our vacation time is over. There were no tears when the plane landed at Sydney airport, only because I’ve shed a bucket when we reached Singapore three days prior our trip back to Australia.
I thought I was being a brave girl when I confidently told my husband during the three-hour flight that I don’t feel sad for myself anymore, being away again from my family and all, but for our daughter Amelie who formed an attachment to almost everyone in the family. But then, as soon as I put her in bed that night in Singapore, she let out a heartbreaking wail that sent me to tears. She was tired and adjusting to a new environment again. Just like how it was for seven (long) years, I had to ask myself (and the husband) over and over again, why we need to live away from our families. The encouragement and comfort he gave were enough to remind me of the answers.
Okay, enough of the drama – Moving on, Amelie has made a big development during our stay in Pinas. She is now more inquisitive, says a lot more words (and mumbles a lot still), imitates what we do and is becoming her own person. Here she is while I was unpacking our luggage yesterday. She picked up her pink shirt and her dad’s socks and insisted that I put them on her. Ang kulet. Ha ha.

More updates and pics to follow.
p.s. Thanks for all the birthday greetings for me and Amelie. You are all so sweet and thoughtful!

probably, ngayon nga kinakausap ko na lilipat kami, he does seem not to mind too much, ewan lang when we transfer na talaga, pag natuloy na hindi na dito sa current area namin, he has to adjust to a new area and a new preschool pa, eh he so enjoys his preschool now.

ganyan talaga pagbalik galing sa Pilipinas, nakakadepress; at least you’re just 3 hours away (is that right?) from your family…
best wishes for 2009

I can so relate - para bang we always leave something of ourselves behind everytime we leave Pinas - though we know that we’re only supposed to be there on holiday… Hay… hirap talaga ang buhay OFW!
Anyway, trust that all of you have already “recovered” by this time.
Amelie is so adorable!
