Two on Eleven Twenty

Dear Amelie,

Here I am, sitting on the floor while tapping away on my laptop past midnight. Looking at you so sound asleep, I’m so tempted to snuggle beside you. But I can’t let this chance pass to write something for you because today is your 2nd birthday!  Happy Birthday, Amelie dearest!

Your daddy and I witnessed how much you’ve grown the past year.  We are grateful to God because you remain a healthy and happy baby.  Here are some random facts about you.

1. And you called me ‘mama’. I have thought you the words ‘mama’ and ‘dada’ using the magnetic board and you were able to memorize them quickly. But I think you haven’t fully associated those words with me and your daddy. You only say those words when asked. Until I left you briefly with grandma yesterday when I had to park the car in the garage. You squealed and shouted and were in tears. And as I continued to walk away, you blurted out ‘mama’ several times! What joy it brought to my heart!

2. You still amaze me with your appetite. When you were still in my belly, I frequently wished that you get your daddy’s appetite because well, mommy’s a ‘boring’ eater. Keep it up, okay? :)

3. A very active kid you are, dear Amelie. I remember your tita marikit Chloe calls his son ‘Twister’ on her blog, and I think you’re fit to be called ‘Twisterette’. Ha ha. Your dad and I at times feel that we can’t keep up with your boundless energy. But know that we are happy you are active and away from sickness.

4. You find comfort and joy holding your J&J shampoo bottle. I know at your age that you cling on to comfort toys but somehow you developed an attachment with that pink bottle. Like yesterday, we were at the mall and while you were on your pram, you held on to the bottle and cared less that the people around did a second look on what’s on your hand! Ha ha. And now, you have the bottle on your bedside. :)

5. Oh, you still love shoes. At your age, you know what you want to wear. One time, you were wearing a dress and you chose your rubber shoes! Good thing you let mama put on your sandals on you instead.

6. You love, love bath time! Next year, we plan to enrol you to swimming class. We hope you’ll enjoy that.

7. You’ve got the groove, too! Grandma was so impressed when she saw how you swayed, moved up and down, stomped your feet and do the twist! Ha ha.  One of these days, I’ll capture that on video.

8. Dad and I are happy that you continue to love books. We can finish short story books from cover to cover now at bedtime. And ah, you’re so good at pretending to read.

9. Your feet size is 8 and your clothes sizes are between 3-4.

10. Aside from your other learning developments, you can now count from 1-30, know simple phonics and has memorized more words. But daddy and I are looking forward to hear you talk more soon!

11. You love Elmo, the Wiggles and Hi-5. You still prefer your DVDs over TV shows.

12. Mommy and Daddy love your tight hugs.  We can’t have enough of that.

13.  When you’re bored at home, what perks you up is seeing yourself on the webcam.  You spend a good 10-15 minutes straight just watching your self play on the laptop screen.

14. You still look every inch like your daddy.

Too bad your dad is now on a business trip.  But he will be home in time to give you a happy birthday nyt-nyt kiss.  We love you, sweetie! Lord bless you always! Mwaaah!
